Another Case of A Serious Growth Just From A Small Pimple | #SaveJoyce – Save a Life
Save A Life is in Roadblock, Malaba, Teso North, Busia County to visit Joyce Katira Wambui.
We understand Joyce’s illness started 10 years ago. It started as a simple growth before it became a huge growth. Initially she didn’t pay much attention to it, and she self diagnose herself. Later on a friend told her to use herbal medicine to relieve it but it became worse.
Afterwards, she decided to seek the help of a professional medic who told her it was very serious and needed to be operated on.
Cases of growth are on the rise and we wonder what could be the cause. When such happens, it is important to get proper medical advice.
Joyce’s illness has made her stigmatized by everyone around her. Her husband abandoned her when she got ill and outrightly told her he’ll come back once she’s cured. He does not even take care of the children he left behind. Joyce’s eldest daughter is often at home due to lack of school fees. When school closes, she travels to Nairobi to work as a domestic help in order to afford her mother’s medicine.
Joyce’s situation is very sad and she needs our help and support urgently.

The story of Mary Muhonja – Save a Life
In Kisumu, in a place called Manyatta, we meet Mary Muhonja, who’s ailing from the swelling of her stomach. The illness started 2 years ago and she couldn’t afford treatment. The swelling continued and became worse.
She has tried to look for treatment but to no avail. She goes to a clinic just to have the fluid in her stomach removed. But due to financial constraints, she’s unable to get proper treatment. All she lives with is just painkillers to relieve the pain. She gets sleepless nights due to the pain caused by the swelling in her stomach.
Mary had no where to live. An old lady felt pity and took her in. She gave Mary a small house so she could live with her kids. Mary cannot do anything for herself, except get food from well-wishers.
Mary is pleading for help for treatment. She wishes to be well again and continue with her life. Let’s come together and support this lady. She’s indeed suffering.
Any amount you can contribute, whether it’s Ksh. 100, 500, 1,000, or more, will go a long way toward her treatment. Thank you to everyone who has been supporting our patients, God bless you.

Save Baby Chemase, a 3-Year Old Suffering From A Tumor – Save a Life
Linet Mboone is a mother of seven kids from Vihiga County, Amisi constituency. One of her kids, called Dynel Chemase, a 3 year old girl, is suffering from a tumor on her chin. Three days after the baby was born, she seemed restless and suffering from some kind of pain. The mom checked up on her and found something growing on the baby’s chin. They went to the hospital to look for help but came back without the baby being treated.
The dad has no job and the mom does menial jobs to get paid and at least support her family. She has seven kids that look up to her, and yet the sick kid depends on her for treatment. The girl doesn’t get sleep at night due to the pain brought forth by the tumor.
The tumor continues to enlarge, and this makes the pain become more excessive. The mom just affords painkillers to give to the girl due to a lack of funds for her treatment.
Due to lack of funds, the young girl needs to be treated she relieves the pain using painkillers. It’s excruciatingly painful, so let’s rally behind Dynel and get her surgery, because she’s clearly in a lot of pain.

“Kuna wakati naskianga kucommit suicide” – 13 years old Francis Kariuki narrates. From Embu, we meet Francis, a young man who has been ailing for like five years now. The boy didn’t even do his KCPE last year due to the condition he was in.
He’s suffering from a condition of swelling on his head and also some sort of skin disease. I couldn’t imagine the young boy staying at home without getting treatment due to financial constraints. I advised the parents to take him to the hospital and funded them to look for the boy’s treatment.
They went to Embu referral hospital, and they were referred to Thika. They were later referred to Kenyatta Hospital, where the boy is now admitted. He’s being taken care of in the hospital, and we are praying for his quick recovery.
We are very grateful to everyone who has been of support to this young boy. May God bless you for standing in the gap to support this boy.

In Kirinyaga, a place called Marurumo, we meet Eunice Auma, who’s suffering from a tumor on her chin. The tumor started back in 2018 as a little pimple, and it got worse and developed into something else. She tried to look for treatment at that time, but to no avail. She was working in a small kibanda and she couldn’t afford treatment.
She tried to look for help, even from her relatives, but didn’t get anyone to help her. This illness has made people reject her each time she asks for help for treatment. She raps a scarf around her every time and stays indoors to avoid insults from people. Others say she was witch-crafted.
Eunice is married to Simon, a man who has been standing by her at all times. He has been supportive, but due to a lack of funds, he’s unable to take her to the hospital. Simon works in a kibanda, a small hotel, and he’s paid Ksh 200 and sometimes lacks. They divide the money for food and to buy painkillers for Eunice. From Turkana county in Katilu, we meet Erupe, a young boy suffering from a tumor on his nose. The tumor sometimes makes him unable to breathe properly. It has been a challenge for his parents to get funds for his treatment. His dad did cattle grazing, but there came cattle rustling and all his cattle were carried away.
After the boy was born and the mom saw the tumor, she was frightened and wanted to throw the baby into the river and die. She was worried about how she could live with a kid like this, something she had never seen. She had a difficult time coping with this. The mom turned to alcohol, and she’s suffering from depression.
The good neighbors saw the need to ask for help so as to rescue this young boy’s life. That’s why Save a Life is pleading with you to come on board and support this young boy for treatment. The doctor said the surgery needed to be conducted soonest to remove the tumor.

A Father of 11 kids is Desperately in Need of Assistance to Get His 14-Year Old to Hospital – Save a Life
Kinango constituency, Mwafumbo ward, Kwale County. We get to know Nyamawi Ngala, a man with eleven children. His 14-year-old girl is afflicted with a tumor on her face. Due to her sickness, the young girl must remain at home. The sickness first surfaced a year ago, and it got worse. It began as a tiny pimple that grew and developed several wounds. The girl has suffered alot and parents lack money for her treatment.
Due to a lack of money to purchase meals, they occasionally go to bed hungry. Due of a shortage of school costs, the other children do not attend school. They have a one-room home, which serves as their bedroom, where they still have to sleep on the floor.
In order to pay for the girl’s treatment, Nyamawi sold his livestock. He once owned a motorcycle, but it was taken away to settle his debts due to loans.
Nyamawi and his family have experienced many hardships. They did everything they could to meet the girls’ needs, but it was ineffective. The pain from the growth prevents the girl from sleeping. You can only imagine that they visited more than ten witch doctors in their approach to attain the girl’s health. They have attempted to visit hospitals, but owing to a lack of cash, they were unable to receive assistance.
They are pleading for assistance, and I am confident that we can help. She is indeed in great pain, so let’s come together to save her life. “My Daughter Usually Covers Me Under a Nylon Shelter” ~ Peter Kariuki – Save a Life
We meet Peter Kariuki, who has been suffering from arthritis since last year, in Nakuru county, Naivasha sub county, in Lake Crater. The sickness began some years ago, but it worsened last year to the point where he was unable to care for himself. He couldn’t straighten his legs because they had stiffened. He was in immense pain in his joints.
Peter lives in a poor house with his daughter Teresia. The house is made up of nylon papers and sacks and the worse thing, it’s full of gaps between them. The roof is made of worn out nylon papers. When it rains, the situation worsens since the house floods all over and left with no shade to cover them.
He was unable to receive treatment due to lack of funds. He tried all he could to get treatment but to no avail. The wife died and he was left with the kids. Due to the illness he was unable to cater for their basic needs and sometimes they could sleep hungry.
He was forced to remain at home with no treatment. The daughter, who had the difficult responsibility of caring for her father, never gave up on him. She works menial jobs to make ends meet, so she can afford to take her father to the hospital. It’s a challenge, sometimes they have to go to bed hungry if the daughter lacks anything to buy food.
Their families have abandoned them, and no one comes to see them not even their immediate family. You can picture the girl having to clean up after her father’s waste. It’s quite a challenge and the girl goes through alot. Because of their poverty, she and her family have been ignored and isolated by people.
We can assist this family. Let’s show our support for the father’s medical treatment. Anyone who can help Teresia to get a job, God will bless you. Let us stand together to show our support for him. God bless you as you purpose to support.

Starting the journey to Samuel Musiliโs treatment – Save a Life
Musili has started treatment and we thank God for getting this far. We are still on with his fundrive to continue with his treatment. Musili has a skin condition that developed after he was born, and the skin grew and became like scales. And due to a lack of funds, he was unable to get treatment.
He isolated himself from people due to the insults he got from others saying he looked like a monkey. These hurtful words just made him hide himself from others. He felt different from others due to how he looked.
As Save a Life we are here to show him that we love him and that we can give him a chance to be happy. He’s one of us, a young man who has been suffering a lot. We can do this and help this young man.

A Desperate Plea for Help from Duke Obiero | #SaveDuke – Save a Life
At Nakuru county, we meet Duke Obiero from Nyamira but currently went to Nakuru in search of help. Duke has been suffering from a growth on his right cheek. He thought that it was a tooth problem, went to hospital and the tooth was removed but worsened instead. It developed swelling which increased and later bursted. It is really painful for him.
The illness grew worse and reached a point the wife left him and went away with the kids. Duke could not withhold the pain and this lead him to getting into depression. He couldn’t imagine his dearest wife would leave him because of his illness. As couples always vow when getting married that they’ll be together for better and for worse, this came to change and it pained him alot. The wife went away with the kids and left him to suffer. She couldn’t help him in anyway. She even warned him of getting close to the kids again.
As a married couple is it right to leave your partner in times he/she is passing through challenges? Or should you stick with him/ her until its well again?
Duke has been through alot. He lacks funds for his treatment. He can’t go to work because of how he is. He gets sleepness nights because of the severe pain from the growth.
Duke is appealing to us to help him. Any amount you might have may it 50, 100, 500 or more it will be if help to get his treatment.

This lady suffers a painful skin condition which gets worse by the day. She direly needs some help – Save a Life
Leah Mumbi is a middle-aged woman from Kimilili, Bungoma County, Kenya. Leah has large sores on her face due to an undiagnosed condition. She narrates that the illness began as just small rashes. The rashes were only appearing on her face, so she didn’t consider it to be serious at first.
The mother of 4 grabbed some off-the-shelf transdermal medicines and used them to apply on her skin, hoping the rashes would disappear. On the contrary, they only grew larger.
Desperate, panicked and scared, Leah decided to try a different remedy. Since she couldn’t afford specialist consultation, this time, she went for herbal medicines but to no success. The condition became much more dreadful, with the rashes opening up into sores.
Within a short time, other symptoms began to appear such as severe headaches and chest pains. She was forced to quit her daily casual work and nurse her injuries back at home. In her 10 sq. feet brick house, with dangerous cracks and a roof that doesn’t hold, she lay helpless.
Questions without answers led to stress, and she would soon develop stomach ulcers – soil in a pile of mud, making the situation even worse. Leah tells us that she now has continous stomach upsets, and her joints feel like they’re being torched from the inside out. So bad that she can hardly turn in bed.
Food is a problem. Leah has nobody to fend for her. She eats at the mercy of neighbours and people of good-will. As if this is not enough, Leah has shed almost all of her teeth in an unusual way due to this illness. She can barely eat, which makes the ulcers more deadly.
Her 4 kids quit school due to a lack of school fees, some of them resorting to get married and others fleeing in search of jobs to try and help their sick mother. Immediate relatives cannot render Leah any help, as they too are going through their fair share of financial struggles. Both her parents passed on.
Leah’s typical day is lying helpless in her house, praying, hoping that someday someone will come and rescue her before it’s too late. Due to the sores, she cannot get outside in the sun or sit close to fire. She wraps up in some old tattered sheets to keep warm.
The society has ruled out that she was bewitched, and that she can only wait on her death. The very extreme of saddists laugh at her and speculate how she’s going to die. This is the present situation.
Now that we’re here, we want to appeal to people of good-will to join us in rescuing Leah. She’s had enough of pain and isolation. Please help us by donating any amount towards her treatment and welfare. Leah is a strong woman for sure, but she needs our help urgently.

Jane is an elderly woman. Deaf, widowed and engulfed by illness – Save a Life
This week we are highlighting a story from North Mugirango, Kisii County. Meet Jane Moraa, a fairly aged woman who struggles with a protruding growth on the left side of her back.
For quite some time now, Jane has been forced to bear the pain and suffering caused to her by the growth. Due to a lack of funds, she’s unable to get good medical care. She relies on painkillers to subdue her constant pain and discomfort.
The growth sometimes discharges pus, which produces a bad odour. This makes her tend to isolate herself and avoid getting in contact with people. Due to the growth, she is continually becoming weak and unable to go about her routine work. The jovial lady is a widow and she’s deaf.
Her family has tried their best to set her up at a local clinic for pain medication, but that’s just as far as they can afford. Jane cannot get proper treatment at the clinic since there are no specialists.
Jane needs our help. We can join hands and help relieve the pain this mama is carrying on her back. Let’s do what we can. Remember, service to humanity is service to God.

Seen as an Outcast for Giving Birth to a Deformed Child | The Height of Inhumanity – Save a Life
In Kibera, Nairobi County, we meet Priscilla Ogema, a single mother of 3 kids.
The boy, Dominic, is suffering from a condition of body swelling. The swelling started on his head, spread to his chest and then to his left hand. The swelling has also affected his spinal cord. Priscilla’s in-laws took her as a bad omen in the family, and advised their son (her husband) to marry another woman who would have healthy kids. Out of frustration, she had to go back home to her parents with the kids.
After her mother died, she came to Kibera with her kids to look for any job she could do to cater for them. She used to leave Dominic inside the house and attempt to look for a job. Unfortunately, Priscilla would later develop a health condition that restrained her from doing difficult jobs. Sometimes she lacks the strength to go to work, and the children are forced to sleep hungry. Priscilla has other children who look up to her for their school fees and food. She has not paid her rent for 5 months now, and the landlord previously kicked her out with her kids, demanding full payment. She sought refuge at her brother’s, which is where they stay now.
Due to poor sanitation in the informal settlements, they have to pay for public toilets every day. Dominic can’t use the public toilets outside, so Priscilla has to buy him diapers on a daily basis – mounting further burden for money.
Priscilla is seen as an outcast because of giving birth to such a child. The child can’t socialize or behave normally like other kids. If he tries to join other children in play, they mock and make fun of him. This has affected his self-esteem, so he opts to stay indoors rather than go outside. He feels bad because of the hurtful words he hears from people. Due to a lack of funds, Priscilla is unable to take the boy to get proper treatment.
It’s quite sad that not once or twice, Priscilla has tried to commit suicide together with her kids. On all accounts, she reached a point where she lost hope of things getting better and that’s why she felt the need to commit suicide.
She’s pleading for help for her son to get treatment. We can help Dominic get proper diagnosis and treatment, if we join hands.
