Joseph: I’m still in tears, this hurts, it’s painful.
I met baby Virginia Mutheu at Mlolongo in a small single room with her mom. What I saw, I’m still in shock. This 14-year old beautiful girl was diagnosed with cancer last year.

The doctor scheduled her for 6 chemotherapies. But because of lack of funds, she could only manage to do 2 chemotherapies. The mother could not raise the money so they stayed at Kenyatta National Hospital for 3 months without getting any form of treatment. The mother tells me that Baby Virginia was neglected at the hospital and they were told that her file was closed and that she could not get any medical support. The mother narrates how devastating it was seeing her daughter’s health deteriorating each day. The ulcer on Baby Mutheu’s neck developed and the mother tried to explain to the nurses her situation hoping they could intervene but no one supported.

The mother had no other alternative but to walk to the street and beg for funds. This did not succeed so she was forced to seek refuge at her daughter’s place in Mlolongo who currently has no job due to the Covid19 pandemic and she too is trying to fend for her two kids.

The cancer has spread to the head and has caused an open sore (or ulcer) on her head skin surface and seeing this was unbelievable – that such a young beautiful girl can be at home and we have leadership in the country. It is disturbing and discouraging to see how poverty denied them from getting the basic need of healthcare.

The burden became worse and now this family is depending on neighbours who support them with food. The mother tells me that they have no hope, she is now waiting for her daughter to die as she watches because she has tried her level best. This girl is in utter pain…

The project is underway, we have managed to finish phase one which is the structure construction. We are remaining with the roofing, tiling (floor), studio painting, sound treatment and equipment.

We estimate the remaining part and buying of broadcasting equipment to cost 5 Million Kenya shillings. We are calling on sponsors to help us achieve this. This studio will be used as a training hub in training film making, photography, video editing and promote talents within Kiambu and it’s environs.

Baby Anna from Kibwezi is under treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital. Beautiful Baby Anna, was admitted at KNH since 16.08.2020. Anna is suffering from a rare skin cancer disease, the 3rd patient to be diagnosed with the disease in Kenya. Her blood count is low at 0.8 and we need to raise it to 10.0 level, so that, she can begin radiotherapy on the wound on her face. Radiotherapy can not proceed since, her blood count is low.

Baby Grace is under medication, Dr. William Copeland could not operate on her and he said the baby could paralyze if the surgery was done. He advised good care parenting.

From the slums, to giving a hand back. Joseph Murimi, the founder of Save a Life Organization uses his skills and knowledge to give a hand to the youth and the communities at large.

What a blessed day it was, the member of parliament Kiambu Constituency, Hon. Jude Njomo joined us as we visited the family of baby Grace. Save a Life Community, together with Hon. Jude Njomo empowered them with a cheque to start up a business. We shall continue to support them as we walk with them in this journey of taking care of Baby Grace.

Meet John Gituthu Mburu, He narrates the worst day of his life. It was on 13th June 2018 in the morning when he was on his typical day hustling at Lungalunga Kona. He remembers picking a cup to serve his brother water. Three days later, he found himself lying at the hospital bed.

All over his face and hands were painful sores and bandages, he had no idea what had happened. His father who was very close to him, got a shock after he heard the story and he was admitted at the Kenyatta Hospital where John was. Few weeks later he passed on. John Gituthu was left disappointed and no one to turn to but his wife Teresiah Wangui Mburu who stood by him and three years down the line she has been the bread winner. She has been the pillar. She has been the main support. John says the wife has proved that true love exist. The wife tells us that many have approached her claiming that she is young and she has beautiful kids and that she should leave John and move on with her life. Many tell her that John is a burden to her.

Joseph: The wife inspired me by promising that she will stick with John until they both get back at life and build their family together.

John needs 350,000 Ksh. for plastic surgery. He also goes for three clinics every month at the Kenyatta hospital and he narrates that he is unable to afford this since he is not in a position to work. He also needs about 10,000 Ksh. for medication.

John’s life changed after the fire incident and he says he has faced many challenges including; pain, stigma, lack of employment, being weak and the grafted skin growing unpropotional. It needs be corrected urgently.
